Google hopes to challenge social dominance of Facebook

The search giant has had to look on in envy as Facebook has taken the world by storm over the past few years. Attempts by Google to establish some sort of foothold in social networking have not exactly met with success thus far. Two years ago the launch of Buzz wasn't met with the response Google thought it might have.

This is why people are waiting with baited breath to see if the latest venture by Google to take on the dominance of Facebook will buck the trend. Google has obviously put a lot of effort into devising its new enterprise which aims to include a social aspect to its search service.

Google is set to do this by incorporating a feature similar to that of Facebook's popular 'Like' buttons. By letting users validate the web pages they find the most interesting, the '+1' buttons will act as a kind of vote towards the site.

Users will be able to do this through the search listings, which will be displayed with adverts. If this proves to be a triumph, then it may find it utilised in many other areas too such as content. The plan is devised to give search advertising more of a viral component, but this remains to be seen.

There is now a global audience for social networking sites and advertisers are looking to tap into its potential through tools such as this one. In fact, it has been reported that the UK's online advertising reached £4 billion in 2010 and this was a remarkable rise of 12.8 percent from the previous year. The research by PricewaterhouseCoopers also indicated that social media is becoming an incredibly effective market for advertisers to target.

When it comes to SEO in Dublin, there is so much potential, especially with the fact that most businesses are turning to the web to establish a presence in their chosen sector. If you want to tap into the possibilities provided by internet marketing and services such as SEO, PPC, content and of course social media, then be sure to consider a specialist such as Just Search.
