Clara You Tubes its way into The Gathering

A Clara You Tube project put together for The Gathering 2013 was launched yesterday (Thursday). The launched project reflects three months of work by local school children exploring the quirky side of Clara. The result is a number of You Tube videos promoting the town. Offaly councillor Molly Buckley launched the project yesterday. She was there no just in her capacity as a member of Offaly County Council however. She is also the chairperson of the Social Inclusion Measures Group of the Offaly County Development Board. It was this group that identified an opportunity for teenagers to work with technology to promote tourism in relation to The Gathering 2013. Clara Family Resource Centre, also a member of the Social Inclusion Measures Group, moved the project further, delivering it through the Home School Liaison Committee and Intergenerational Group. Funding was provided by Offaly Local Development Company for Kevin Glynn from Big Idea Films to work with local transition year students, and the project was then expanded to include primary school students. Commencing in October 2012 school children explored their Clara and came up with a number of resulting videos. Some of those videos include one entitled "Clara Bog Boys" by the boys in fifth class in Scoil Prionsias Nafa, "The Little Town of Clara" by the sixth class girls in Scoil Bhride and "Br Urban League" by a transition year group. The You Tube videos can be viewed on the Big Idea Films channels on You Tube from midnight tonight (Friday). That channel can be found by visiting http://www.youtube.com/user/bigideafilms.
