Tullamore Gathering is this weekend

The Tullamore Parish Gathering takes place this weekend, and events in the line-up include a canal walk this evening (Friday), a Gathering Mass tomorrow evening and a group photo on Sunday.

The theme of this weekend's Gathering event in Tullamore Parish is 'building bridges'. It's fitting therefore that the first of the weekend's event begins at a bridge. A historical walk of the canal area will take depart from Whitehall Bridge at 7pm this evening, before concluding with a tour of the new Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre at 8pm.

On Saturday a Gathering Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Assumption at 7.30pm. After that Mass a celebration will be held on the church grounds and in the parish centre, which will include a pig on a spit and live music. All food will be provided on the evening, but donations of buns and cakes are being welcomed. Everyone is also being welcomed to the Saturday evening celebration, particularly visitors who are home at the time.

On Sunday celebrations will begin at 1pm, with Cemetery Sunday Mass in Clonminch. This Mass will include the blessing of the graves and the dedication of a special memorial to all children buried in the graveyard.

Sunday events will continue at 2.30pm on the grounds of Colaiste Choilm, where a special Gathering community photo will be taken. Anyone who does not attend Mass in Clonminch is still most welcome to join in the photo on the school grounds later the afternoon. There will be light refreshments available, but attendees are also welcome to bring a picnic.

Tullamore Parish has thanked everyone who has helped in the organisation of the weekend's events.
