Geantrai Na Nollag from Kinnitty to be aired on Christmas Day

An edition of TG4’s flagship entertainment programme Geantrai Na Nollag that was recorded in Kinnitty Castle is to be aired on Christmas night.

Featuring The High Kings, the programme that’s presented by Cork singer John Spillane will be on screens from 9.15pm.

On the programme The High Kings perform the sea shanty “Johnny Leave Her” and the classic “McAlpines Fusiliers”.

John Spillane duets with Maire Ni Cheilleachair for “Cill Chais” and he joins Mairtin O’Connor, Zoe Conway and Donal Lunny for “Seamuisin”.

“At First Light” will perform one of their own compositions on the show, as well as a macaronic version of the traditional song “Ard Ui Chuain”.

All-Ireland fiddle champions Zoe Conway, Tara Breen and Lydia Warnock come together on the show for a set of reels, while Zoe also teams up with Mairtin O’Connor and Donal Lunny for Mairtin’s lively “Trip to Gort”.

The High Kings are joined for the finale by most of the musicians and singers from the programme for “The Parting Glass”.
