Three Ladies and a Suitcase

If opera is your thing, organisers say you should book tickets immediately for ‘Three Ladies and a Suitcase’ at Birr Theatre on June 14 next.

If it’s not, they say you should do the same and “allow yourself to be delightfully surprised”.

Voce de Donna (Voice of a Woman) is a Cork-based trio of soprano Fiona O’Reilly, mezzo Christina O’Flynn and Offalian Bethan Lee on piano. The group came together because of their shared passion for opera and their desire to bring it to a wider audience.

In their show ‘Three Ladies and a Suitcase’, the trio include a balance of solo operatic arias and duets as well as piano solos.

Stories of the arias, mostly from the Romantic period, are cleverly sketched by all three performers using narration, costume and props.

A warm, lively and intimate show, it belies the elitist image of opera and restores its role to an exciting theatrical event.

‘Three Ladies and a Suitcase’ comes to Birr Theatre on Saturday, June 14 at 8pm.

Tickets priced €16 are available at www.birrtheatre.com and 057 9122911.
