Sam Keeley to star opposite Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller

Things are on the up and up for Tullamore native Sam Keeley, with the young actor set to star opposite Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in his next film, ‘Chef’.

The son of local musician Brendan Keeley, Sam is currently in London, where shooting on the movie is to begin next Monday.

Not to be confused with the Jon Favreau film of the same name that’s currently in Irish cinemas, the Weinstein Company film Sam is to star in will be directed by ‘August: Osage County’ director John Wells.

He’ll be playing the part of young chef David to Cooper’s Adam, a partied out chef who comes back from Paris to redeem himself with a new restaurant.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent Sam’s father and manager Brendan said he met Bradley Cooper for the first time last night (Wednesday), when they visited the kitchen of a Michelin-star restaurant in London to see just how crazy it gets during dinner.

Sam has also been doing a crash course in a Michelin-star restaurant kitchen, in preparation for filming that will take place in both London and Paris from next week until mid-September.

Sam’s acting career began in ‘The Other Side of Sleep’, which was shot in Offaly in 2010. Since then he’s appeared in ‘Misfits’, ‘Raw’, ‘This Must Be The Place’ and ‘What Richard Did’. He can be seen later this year in ‘Monsters: Dark Continent’ and Ron Howard’s ‘Heart of the Sea’.

The Keeley family have plans to all travel to London for the ‘Monsters’ premier on September 26 next. “Even if it’s only to hoover the red carpet I’m going over,” Brendan said.

He also added that his son, and the Keeley family, doesn’t take his good fortune for granted.

“We’re very grateful that this is happening for him,” he said, adding that his son’s success is Tullamore’s success too.
