Offaly man gets hair cut on ABC show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Offaly man Diarmuid Higgins was the first brave soul to have his hair shaved off on popular American tv show Jimmy Kimmel Live this week.

Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo - who has no haircutting experience - set up a barber shop chair on the side of the street and offered to relieve the sweaty passers-by with a free buzz cut.

The resulting video has since garnered thousands of views on YouTube.

After hearing Diarmuid hailed from Offaly, Jimmy quipped that he was “going to get your hair cut awfully right now”. Given the option of backing out, Diarmuid bravely chose to stay in the chair however. “I’m here now,” he reasoned.

Diarmuid told the show host that he was in San Diego for three months. “You won’t have to go to an interview anytime soon, I hope?,” Jimmy replied.

After the haircut that took just minutes, Jimmy Kimmel described Diarmuid’s new ‘do as “a carefree cut that doesn’t require any styling”.

“It looks terrible,” he admitted immediately after. “If you were a poodle, they’d put you in a shelter right now, let’s just put it that way.”

Shown his new look in the mirror, Diarmuid maintained he was “really happy” with the cut however, and he left a happy customer.
