'Ailleacht' exhibition to open in Aras an Chontae

Local artist Siobhan McCormack is the woman behind an exhibition set for Aras an Chontae next week.

‘Ailleacht’ is the title of the body of work that will be officially opened next Thursday, August 14 at 7pm. Guest speaker on the night of the opening will be Maire Aoibhinn Ni Ogain, and all members of the public are welcome to come along.

Siobhan has had numerous successful exhibitions both at home and abroad. Her new exhibition, whose title means ‘beauty’, focusses on her love of the simple, life-affirming beauty that surrounds us every day - things of natural beauty and importance that were perhaps forgotten during the Celtic Tiger years.

Offaly’s wildlife is depicted in her latest paintings, with rabbits, wild flowers, white bog cotton, swans, deer, horses, dragon flies and butterflies all featured.

The exhibition will continue until Friday, August 28 and will be on view from 9am until 4pm Monday to Friday during that period.
