Concerts kick off locally in the Church of the Assumption in Tullamore.

Summer music for 5 Offaly venues

A programme of concerts for Tullamore, Geashill, Durrow and Birr as well as St Ann’s Church on Dawson Street in Dublin has been planned for next week.

A free lunchtime concert has been organised for the Church of the Assumption in Tullamore at 1.15pm on Wednesday, August 20, with young local and international performers joining organist Charles Marshall and guests at that event.

On Thursday, August 21, a free evening of music is planned for St Mary’s Church of Ireland church in Geashill at 7.15pm. At that event the RTE Contempt Quartet will collaborate with International Summer Music School 2014 participants and mentors.

The following evening - Friday, August 22 - there will be a free summer music programme in St Colmcille’s in Durrow at 7.15pm, featuring International Summer Music School 2014 participants and mentors.

On Saturday, August 23 a Cafe Music Night will be held at Tullamore Rugby Club at 8pm. Tickets for that event, which will include the RTE Contempo Quartet along with Dermot Dunne, Aoise O’Dwyer, Camilo Gaete and Adele O’Dwyer, will cost €15.

Finally, a showcase concert that is being billed as a family event will take place in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on Sunday, August 24 at 3pm, with tickets available for just €5.
