Marina Carr's 'The Giant Blue Hand' is to be staged as part of Hullabaloo!

Tads take on the giant blue hand for hullabaloo

Tullamore Amateur Drama Society (TADS) has become the first Irish local production company to take on Marina Carr’s play for children 'The Giant Blue Hand’.

The group will put on the play especially for Hullabaloo, Offaly’s arts festival for children, with shows planned over the midterm break next week in Tullamore, Clara, Birr and Edenderry.

Offaly native Marina Carr is the woman behind 'The Giant Blue Hand’. Next week’s staging of her play will not only be TADS first time staging the work, but will also be the first time it’s been staged since it was commissioned by the Ark in 2009.

“I’ve only seen one production of it which was the Ark one, so I’d really love to see this producation, see what they do with it,” Marina said this week.

Directing 'The Giant Blue Hand’ at next week’s festival will be Fionnuala Corrigan and Frank O’Brien.

'The Giant Blue Hand’ will be staged in Edenderry town hall on October 29 at 7pm, in Clara Family Resource Centre on October 30 at 7pm, in Tullamore Central Hotel on October 31 at 4pm and in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on November 1 at 7pm.

Tickets costing €3 can be booked for Edenderry by calling 057 9357400, for Clara by calling 057 9331928, for Tullamore from Midland Books and for Birr from Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on 057 9122911.
