Little stars to take to the stage this weekend

Stage Stars Academy(SSA)-Tullamore’s newest Stage School-are planning to end their first year on a high with shows in St Mary’s Youth Centre in Tullamore.

It’s been a busy year for the staff of SSA and all the wonderful stars and their parents. Along with the fun classes in singing, acting and dancing, they’ve have had plenty of events throughout the year. “We had a visit from George McMahon, Fair City’s Mondo in November. In December, we were honoured to be asked to perform at the turning on of the Christmas lights in Tullamore. And later in December we visited Dublin to see Cinderella the Pantomime in the Helix,” SSA’s Colin Hughes explained.

He said “into the New Year we started preparing for our end of year show and 18 of our stars went forward for their Speech and Drama exams with the Leinster School of Music and Drama. These students took their exams on May 6. Now all that’s left is for our amazing stars to showcase themselves in our end of year production of The Magic of the Musicals.”

Colin said the The Magic of the Musicals “is a variety show featuring many songs from the musical stage and from musical films also. All these highlights are neatly tied together by a fun script.' The show takes place in St Marys Youth Centre on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31 at 7pm. Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for children.

Stage Stars Academy will also run a Summer Camp in St Mary’s Youth Centre from August 10 to 14 with classes in Drama, Music and Dance. The school will include special classes from TV personalities and a West End Masterclass from a star of Londons West End.
