Meath’s Boyne Valley has managed to find the perfect balance between adventure and tradition, custom and innovation to become a home for festivals, food, family fun and excellent nightlife.

Watch history come to life with the Battle of Kells Festival 2016 featuring spectacular jousting, archery, falconry and Medieval tented encampments, as well as lectures and a Mayhem Corner full of activities for younger visitors on august 20th and 21st.

Continue the journey back in time with a trip to the Boyne Visitor Centre in the stunning surrounds of the parkland and battlesite on the south bank of the mighty River Boyne, where William of Orange defeated King James II in 1690.

The Boyne Valley has become something of a foodie’s paradise and the Boyne Valley Food series is a jam-packed calendar of events toignite the senses throughout May to October. With the finest farming land for miles around, the local produce is wholesome and delicious whether enjoyed as they are or used as ingredients.

The Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival will mark its tenth birthday with a longer family festival at 3 to 7 august in Kells and the thrilling and hair-raising aLMC Car Rally hQ is at the Castle Arch Hotel on 2 and 3 July. The Moynalty steam Threshing returns on 14 august with a great day for all the family.

A great way to see the countryside is on two wheels and Meath Local Sports Partnership welcomes the return of the an Post Meath heritage Cycle Tour on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th July 2016. Whether you are a recreational cyclist or a would-be Tour de France competitor, this is the event for you with routes and distances to suit the whole family.
