Tullamore hairdressing salon nominated for two prestigious awards

Deirdre's Hair Care on Main street, Tullamore, has been shortlisted for the two prestigious awards for salon excellence. The first award is for the Irish 'Training Award 2009' and the second is for 'Leinster Salon of the Year 2009'. Both awards recognise the commitment to delivering the highest standards in hair care to customers of the salon. Speaking about the nomination Deirdre Hyland, Owner of Deirdre's Hair Care said: "It is an honour to have been nominated for two awards. It is actually quite unusual, most salons would only get nominated for one of these awards. I invest in my staff to produce the best stylists in the Midlands. To secure the best future professionals I ensure that consistent and constant training and development is available at all levels and this encourages and motivates employees to provide the best services it can to our clients. To have these high standards recognised on a national stage is unbelievable." Deirdre continued: "We are looking forward to competition finals in October and whilst it would be nice to win, I am just elated that we have got this far. I have a fantastic team of stylists here in Tullamore and between them they have over 50 years experience in hairdressing." Deirdre Hyland qualified as a hairdresser in 1992 from Hair Mechanics, which was based in Tullamore, through a City and Guilds course. Deirdre continued her education through Schwarzkopf training programmes and has stayed with the company and the products for over 17 years. Deirdre set up 'Deirdre's Hair Care' in 1997 and it has grown from strength to strength since. She currently employs eight staff members, which have collective experience of almost 50 years working for her in the salon. The finals take place in October in Dublin.
