Edenderry flood appeal sparks massive response

Members of Edenderry and District Women in Business launched an appeal for blankets, bed linen and clothes for victims of flooding last week to which there has been an absolutely massive response.

Edenderry Chamber of Commerce and Community shop was used as a collection point and was manned by Mary Byrne, Catherine Byrne, Nichola Hogan, Phil Hayes and Patricia Brady over the weekend.

Again on Sunday, a large number of people turned out including Marion Kelly, Marie Foley and Caroline Murphy to assist with packing and loading, while Phil Hayes, Francie McGuinness and Michael Hogan transported two van loads to Athlone for distribution to those who need it.

EDWIB would like to say a massive thank you to all those people who donated so many items over the weekend and for all those that helped out. Due to the success of the appeal, it has been extended and anyone wanting to donate any items can phone 085 7632672. The items particularly in need at the moment are fuel, kitchen equipment, cots and baby equipment.
