School's bazaar for Balawoli

Transition Year students in Tullamore College are holding a Christmas Bazaar in aid of the school they are twinned with in Uganda.

Tullamore College is twinned with Balawoli Secondary School in Uganda and as part of a partnership agreement the students learn about the cultural differences and the problems facing schools in the developing world.

The students have organised the second Christmas Bazaar for Balawoli under 'Gemini Ireland' which is a charity set up by students from the school in 2006.

This year the bazaar will take place on Friday December 11 at 8pm in the school gym. Tickets for each raffle can be purchased on the night and winning numbers are selected on a 'wheel of fortune'. Last year the event itself proved to be most enjoyable for all who attended and the school managed to raise a staggering €4,350, thanks to donations and sponsored prizes from parents, businesses and the entire local community.

As always an activity like this depends on the generosity of the community. Although it is a difficult year for many families and businesses, students would be very grateful for any contribution.

They will be visiting all local businesses in the coming weeks for support. The school would like to thank you for your support in advance and extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to come along on the night. Entry is free and tickets for all raffles start at only €1. Hope to see you there!
