Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) courses are to be offered in Offaly after Offaly VEC completed an agreement with the college to allow graduates of Post Leaving Certificate courses in Offaly to progress to courses in the Institute. A further strand of the agreement will enable AIT to deliver certain courses in county Offaly in partnership with Co Offaly VEC.

Acting CEO of the VEC Edward McEvoy said:

"I am delighted that we have been able to progress this vital initiative, which will further increase participation in third level education in county Offaly.

When the economy begins to recover initiatives like this will better position the young people in Offaly to avail whatever opportunities becomes available."
