Decision due on Rhode biomass plan
A decision is due by the end of the month on a biomass processing facility at Rhode. The applicants, Biotricity Ltd, are seeking permission for a development to turn raw biomass into a refined biofuel along with the production of 15MW of renewable electricity. Further information on the planning proposal was submitted to Offaly County Council in the last week, and the council is due to rule on the planning application by June 29 next. The development, at Coolcor, Rhode, is to include a 1,977 square-metre combined heat and power building, including a flue gas filter plant with a 30m high flue as well as 9m high cooling towers. Separate drying and pelletting buildings are also planned as well as a storage silo. The facility is expected to process raw material sourced from renewable forestry and agricultural crops.
