Operation Transformation has meant big changes for Edenderry leader Adrian Brereton. This week it led to big changes for his living room walls too. For the first time 41 year old Adrian is in the family photos that hang proudly, after working up the courage to be pictured with his family by local photographer Nida Collins.
In the past Adrian, who weighed just under 19 stone pre-Operation Transformation, was too embarrassed to be included in family photos. Having smashed his programme goal weight of 16 stone 13 pounds two weeks early Adrian, who now weighs 16 stone one and a half pounds, feels much more photogenic. "It was a bit daunting," Adrian says of the photo shoot in Nida Collins' studio. A suit from Carroll's Menswear made him feel much more confident he says, and by Saturday evening last the Brereton's new family photo was hanging up. "It was unusual at first but as every day goes by I'm getting used to it," Adrian says.
Saturday sees Adrian taking part in a five kilometre run in Dublin's Phoenix Park and after a few final days of filming Operation Transformation's finale will air next Wednesday, February 22. The leaders will have their final weigh-in on Sunday morning, and Adrian says he hopes to break the 16 stone weight barrier and make his finale all the sweeter.
Looking past the last Operation Transformation show, Adrian said he's "kind of going to miss it" as it's been such a help to him. The walking isn't over, however, and Adrian says he'll look forward to walks with locals in Edenderry every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday as part of his new healthy life.
