Pop-up Karma Cafe for Little Wishes fund in Edenderry

The innovative new Little Wishes comfort fund in Edenderry, which funds treats for those going through cancer in the locality and their families, is to host a pop up "Karma Café" in Edenderry next Friday and Saturday. The Little Wishes fund has been in existence since a hugely successful fun run in October. Since then treated delivered have included cinema and bowling trips, restaurant vouchers, rugby tickets and spa treatments. This week's pop-up café will raise more funds to fuel the fund that gives cancer patients and their families time out from the stresses the disease brings. "The positive effect that Little Wishes has brought to the community has been amazing so it seemed appropriate then to create the Karma Café," organiser and former cancer patient Nida Collins explained. "Karma means 'deed' or 'act' and more broadly names the universal principle of cause and effect, action and reaction that governs life. Little Wishes, thanks to the generosity of the community, has brought about a great reaction of joy in the families of people going through cancer. It is an excellent example of positive cause and effect in action." At the Karma Café visitors can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a cake along with sampling alternative therapies that bring about good karma including massages and acupuncture. "It's an opportunity for those working in offices or businesses nearby to take their break and enjoy respite from the daily grudge and return to work more relaxed and spreading positive karma," Nida explained. The café will open in Edenderry from 10.30am until 5pm, with bookings available on 086 1728700 or littlewishesedenderry@live.com. Payment at the café will be by donation.
