Most men not impressed with Valentine's Day presents

Over half of the men of Ireland are disappointed with the Valentine’s Day presents they get.

That’s according to a new survey by Debenhams, which also – unsurprisingly – reveals that almost three-quarters of women find it hard to choose a good present for their partner.

Conversely, more than six out of every ten women are “mainly happy” with the gifts given to them from their other halves on February 14.

Speaking about the findings Debenham’s spokesperson Karen Nason said it’s now women who are “clueless Cupids” and who need to catch up with men when it comes to buying romantic gifts.

The retailer has put together a list of ten suggested Valentine’s Day gifts for men, including dog and bone shaped cufflinks, a Jelly Bean Factory gift jar, Calvin Klein boxer shorts, a Hammond and co leather weekend bag and a compact automatic umbrella with cover.

All the ladies out there who have Valentine’s Day gift shopping on their minds should remember in addition the research shows men would rather have something stylish and practical rather than a token novelty gift.
