Tandem cycling and High Nelly time trials part of Offaly's Bike Week 2014

High Nelly time trials and the opportunity to try out tandem cycling will form part of Offaly’s Bike Week 2014.

Bike Week takes place from June 14-22, with cycling events all over the country organised by local authorities, community groups, charities and cycling groups.

Bike week events in Offaly include 30 minute lunchtime cycles in Birr, Edenderry and Tullamore next Wednesday, June 18 at 12.45pm. All are welcome to join in those events, with those in Edenderry meeting at the town hall, those in Birr meeting at the Wilmer Road car park and those in Tullamore meeting at the town park.

The Wolftrap Cycling Club will also host a number of events in Birr, while further events in Tullamore will be led out by the Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club.

Families are also well catered for. A ‘Pedal in the Park’ fun family cycle event is scheduled for the Lough Boora Parklands, leaving from the pavilion at 6.30pm on Friday, June 20.

That event will include children’s cycle games from 7.30pm, as well as the opportunity to try out tandem cycling and High Nelly time trials. Families are also encouraged to bring along a picnic on the evening.
