A promising indie/rock band based in Birr is to release its first single on Friday next, September 18.

The Heirs To Nothing was formed two years ago by lead singer and songwriter Martin Bennett, who was joined by bass player and vocalist TJ Brewer, lead guitarist Stephen Hogan, rhythm guitarist and vocalist Mike Maher and drummer David Maher.

Martin has been playing for five years and has written and produced all of his own recorded material. He began with an album called 'Backrooms' and after hearing the album, bassist TJ Brewer came on board and The Heirs To Nothing was formed.

The band's first single "Lover" will be launched at Birr Rugby Club on Friday, September 25. It's a mix of 80s, pop and punk rocj music.

According to Martin: We have enough material together for our first two albums but we're not in any hurry with them.the main thing for us is to do well whatever it is we're doing so at the end of the day we can look on our works and be proud.

Doors will open at 8pm and support will be provided on the night by two local acts, Ciaran Cooney and Reefstained

There will be a service available on the door where everyone attending can download the single via mobile phone as part of the entrance fee (so make sure to have at least €1 credit) and will then get that euro back. So effectively anyone who attends is getting the single for free. Entrance fee is €10.
