Edenderry playground sod turned
"Quite a success" was how Chairperson of Edenderry Playground Committee Tessie Doyle described last Saturday's sod turning for a new playground at Granary Court.
Construction on the playground will begin proper next month, with works to be completed over the summer.
"With the weather remaining dry for the afternoon it was great to see so many people turn out for this wonderful occasion," Tessie said. "The actual day was low key and aimed at the children with a treat and a balloon for each child. The sod was turned by Mr Brendan Bergin who kindly donated the wonderfully centrally located site. Grateful thanks must be extended to Ms Breda Pentony and Ms Sharon Farrell who did the most fantastic face paintings."
Tessie also paid thanks to the whole community, who she said have remained focused on this project.
Judging is now set to commence on a poster competition local schools organised, with the winning poster being used to advertise an upcoming competition to choose a child to officially open the playground.
