Police continue search for Catherine Gowing

Police in North Wales are continuing the search for Offaly woman Catherine Gowing, who hasn't been seen since approximately 8.40pm on Friday, October 12. Since then 46-year-old Clive Sharpe has been charged with Catherine's murder and last Tuesday, October 23, a plea and case management hearing was adjourned until January. The search for Catherine continues to focus in and around a quarry and adjacent pools and woodland in Pinfold Lane, Alltami near Mold, where Catherine's Renault Clio was found burnt out on the evening of Thursday, October 18. Speaking through a family liaison officer on Wednesday Catherine's sister Emma and brother-in-law Shay, who remain in Wales, thanked the public for their support in the search for Catherine, and urged anyone with any information to contact police. Police remain anxious to trace the full movements of both Catherine's Renault and Clive Sharpe's black Volvo S40, which has a registration number AG58 JHE. Senior investigating officer DCI Mark Pierce said on Wednesday: "I would urge anyone who can help us with any information about either the Renault or Volvo or Clive Sharpe to contact us immediately." Mr Pierce said police focus remains on finding Catherine and reuniting her with her family. "Specialist search teams continue to carry out methodical searches of the woodland," he explained. "We are currently deploying four search teams from North Wales Police and our colleagues in Cheshire Police are supporting us with two of their own. National search team advisors are assisting us to prioritise the areas to search and the specialists to use. These resources include the regional underwater search team and specialist dogs. Our search strategy and methodology is constantly being reviewed taking into account all the information received from members of the public and our own investigations."
