Tullamore singer wins support slot at Saturdays' gig
Tullamore singer Lizzie Conroy has been chosen along with her band Rouges to support The Saturdays at a charity gig in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Thursday next, March 28. The Offaly singer has been given the exciting chance thanks to success in a public competition to find three support acts for the famous girl band. Other support acts who have been chosen include Cork girl band Roulette and singer Sophie Hannah Dunne from Dublin.
Rouges, Roulette and Sophie Hannah Dunne reached the end of the competition in top position after entries from almost 100 hopeful entertainers. Five acts were shortlisted following a public vote on the Bord Gais Energy Facebook page, before a panel of judges including Una Healy of the Saturdays selected the final three winners. They will now perform at Bord Gais Energy’s second annual event in aid of the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
'I was very impressed with all the entries,' Una Healy of The Saturdays said. 'The shortlisted acts are extremely talented and it was a tough decision but I would like to say a special congratulations to Rouges, Roulette and Sophie Hannah Dunne.'
Sponsorship manager at Bord Gais Energy Irene Gowing said the talent they saw in each of the shortlisted entries was 'superb'. 'We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who took part in this competition and we congratulate the five shortlisted acts and especially the final three,' she said.
Tickets for the charity show, which hopes to raise €200,000, are available for €20 to €35 via Ticketmaster or at www.bordgaisenergyrewards.ie for Bord Gais customers.
