Attempted abduction investigated
Gardaí in Offaly are investigating after reports three young teenage girls escaped from an attempted abduction in the Garr area about three kilometres from Rhode village over the weekend.
The incident took place at approximately 2.50pm on Sunday afternoon last as the girls - who are reported to be 16, 14 and 13 - were walking along the road.
A green car driven by a man is said to have pulled up alongside them before the same man allegedly engaged the three in conversation and tried to get them to get into the car on the suggestion that he would drive them home.
Sergeant Kevin Quinn in Edenderry has encouraged locals to report any suspicious behaviour they may have witnessed to gardaí.
