Gardai in Tullamore today recovered a sawn-off shotgun and a quantity of ammunition from a cemetery in Tullamore.
The discovery was made during a search operation at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Clonminch this morning (Thursday, August 15) at approximately 10am by gardai from Tullamore investigating criminal activity in the area.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent Tullamore’s Sergeant Ollie Baker said no arrests have been made as a result of the find and investigations are continuing. The shotgun has been sent for forensic examination, he added.

This weekend marks the Tullamore Parish Gathering, and Cemetery Sunday will be marked on Sunday. Mass will celebrated at the Clonminch cemetery at 1pm on the day. Sgt Baker said there will be a garda presence at that event.
