Winter time begins this weekend, and Justice Minister Alan Shatter – the Minister with responsibility for Time - has today urged everyone to “use the extra hour wisely”.

Clocks will go back one hour at 1am on Sunday next, October 27, which in essence will give us a 25 hour day on Saturday.

“It is timely that we make the most of this annual return to where we were, and not let this extra hour pass us by unacknowledged,” Minister Shatter said today, concluding with the Latin phrase “Carpe Horam” (Seize the Hour).
