Dolan welcomes planning approval for new factory in Clara

Local Independent councillor Dervill Dolan has welcomed the news that a new factory for Clara has been given the go ahead.

Cllr Dolan welcomed the fact that planning permission was granted by Offaly County Council to Elevate Polymers, which could see up to 20 new jobs at the former Associated Plastics Ireland factory on the Ballycumber road in Clara with potential for up to 40 jobs with future expansion.

Cllr Dolan said this is very good news for the Clara area particularly at a time when unemployment is high not just in Offaly but throughout the country.

'A new manufacturing business in Clara that can create 20 jobs initially with potential to create further jobs at some time in the future is a great boost to the local economy and will benefit not just the new employees who get work at the factory, it will also help existing businesses in Clara with some welcome financial spin off into the local area,' Cllr Dolan said.

Cllr Dolan extended his best wishes to the promoters of the new business and he complimented them for identifying a market to reuse and recycle silage bail wrappers and for having the vision to develop the technology to manufacture plastic granules suitable for use in various industry sectors.
