It’s understood Edenderry councillor Noel Bourke has returned home and is on the mend after a stay in hospital that lasted just under seven weeks.
The Fianna Fail councillor took ill at his home in Killane, Edenderry in the early hours of Wednesday, May 7 and was taken to intensive care at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
According to chairperson of the Edenderry Fianna Fail Cumann Finian O’Neill Cllr Bourke left hospital last Tuesday, June 24.
Cllr Bourke has been a member of Offaly County Council since 1991 and served as chair in 1997/8. Though in hospital and unable to canvass for over two weeks before the May 23 elections, he was elected to Offaly County Council for the Edenderry electoral area once again last month with a total of 907 first preference votes.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent Mr O’Neill wished both Cllr Bourke and his family well. “I’m delighted that Noel Bourke is making a full recovery, and that’s he’s home from hospital,” he said.
