Banagher's Brosna Lodge sold at auction

Three Offaly lots including Brosna Lodge in Banagher sold at the most recent Allsop property auction in Dublin on Tuesday. The auction of 163 lots raised almost €38.5m, with 80 per cent of lots sold on the day.

Brosna Lodge, a 14-bed hotel on Banagher’s Main Street, was put up for auction with a four-bed house with a reserve price of between €250,000 and €300,000.

On the day the property that includes a bar and two restaurants was sold for €250,000.

A two-storey end of terrace mixed use building on Green Street in Birr stretching to almost 1,200 square metres also sold on the day. With a reserve of €42,000 to €47,000 set for the property, it sold for approximately twice that at €90,000.

An Edenderry lot sold for a whopping five times more than its reserve price at the same auction. Land totalling 1.21 hectares to the rear of 74 and 79 JKL Street in Edenderry went for auction with a reserve not to exceed €30,000. On the day it went for €150,000 however.

Units at Edenderry Business Park on St Mary’s Road in the town comprising a restaurant, a retail warehouse, three offices and five warehouses and extending to almost 3,500 square metres had been listed for sale, but were withdrawn prior to auction.
