Tullamore businessman wins 51500 in lottos money spinner

Des Murphy of Midland Framing in Tullamore is financially much better off this week than last, after winning €51,500 on the National Lottery’s final Money Spinner event last Saturday.

Dubliner Des, who has lived in Tullamore with his wife Joan and children Robert, Christopher and Sarah for the past 23 years, won the most of any of the players taking part in the event presented by Brian Ormond.

Speaking this week, the picture framer said the win “couldn’t have happened at a better time”. His plans for the cash include clearing bills and sharing it with his family.

It’s not Des’s first positive experience with the lotto however. In 2007 he won €2,000 on Euromillions.

Last Saturday’s Money Spinner event was the last of twelve that took place over the summer, and saw five players from Offaly, Dublin, Donegal and Kerry win prizes to the value of €135,000.

A new season of Winning Streak returns to RTE 1 tomorrow (Saturday), presented by Sinead Kennedy and Marty Whelan.
