Armed robbery in blueball

Gardai are looking for a man following an armed robbery at a filling station in Blueball last night.

Gardai in Tullamore are appealing for information in relation to the robbery which occurred at Doolan’s Filling Station in Blueball at around 8.50pm on Wednesday night.

A garda spokesman said “a male went in brandishing what we believe could have been a firearm and left with a quantity of cash.” The man threatened a female shop assistant before making off in the direction Tullamore in a grey Rover car. The woman was unhurt but shaken following her ordeal.

The raider, whose face was covered, was described as being about 5ft 10” in height and of athletic build.

It’s understood a man pursued his vehicle towards Tullamore and following a collsion, the raider escaped by running into fields.

Gardai in Tullamore confirmed a car has been seized and is being technically examined.
