Weather warning issued as gusts of up to 110km predicted

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning with gusts of up to 110 km per hour forecast.

The warning comes into effect at 10pm tonight when winds are expected to reach average speeds of between 50 and 65 km/h with potential gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h.

The warning was issued for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford.

Met Éireann warned that 'southwesterly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h while gusts of 90 to 110 km/h are possible. Winds will veer westerly on Monday afternoon. The winds will ease off later on Tuesday morning.'

A status orange warning has been issued for many western coastal counties.
