Would you let your child dress you for charity

LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice is calling on people to get involved in the #DressedByAChild Campaign, dreamt up by RTE Radio 1’s Ray D’Arcy Show last week.

The campaign, which saw Ray’s daughter Kate style him for the week, has been embraced by people all over the country relinquishing control of their wardrobes to the children in their lives, all in aid of LauraLynn. A number of celebrities have already lent their support to the campaign with Ryan Tubridy, Lucy Kennedy, Jenny Kelly, Rachel Allen and Neven Maguire allowing their kids to dress them.

Today, LauraLynn, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, is calling on the public to get involved, share their photo on Facebook or Twitter, challenge a friend and most importantly, donate.

Tragically, there are over 3,800 children living in Ireland with life limiting conditions and 350 of these children pass away each year, most within their first year of life. Jane Flynn, Head of Marketing, LauraLynn said, “it is surprise initiatives such as this #DressedByAChild campaign that enable us to keep our  hospice doors open. With NO direct Government funding for our Hospice Services, we need to raise €2.9M annually to continue our services. As well as vital additional funding to  roll out  LauraLynn@HOME programme nationwide which provides nursing care for very sick children in the comfort of their own home. This campaign is all about fun and bringing out the child in you, something we are so passionate about at LauraLynn. A huge thanks to all who have gotten involved so far, each €4 donated really does make a difference.”

To take part all you need to do is allow a child in your life control of your wardrobe.Whether it is a daughter, son, niece, nephew, grandchild or neighbour – simply let them pick what you wear and take a picture.

Share your photo on Facebook and Twitter with #DressedByAChild, challenge your friends to get involved and don’t forget to donate €4 by texting LauraLynn to 50300 (VAT may apply on some networks where a minimum of €3.26 will go to LauraLynn. Service provided by LikeCharity).
