Two arrested as drugs seized in edenderry and tullamore

Gardai arrested two men and seized over €400,000 in cannabis in Edenderry and Tullamore in the past two days.

As part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Offaly area, Gardaí from Edenderry carried out the planned search of a premises at Clonmore, Edenderry at 10.30pm last Wednesday. During the search cannabis plants with an estimated value of €250,000 were discovered.


Edenderry Gardaí assisted by Gardaí from the Tullamore District Drugs Unit stopped and searched a vehicle close to Tullamore and seized a quantity of cannabis plants on Thursday. 
In a follow up search of a premises in Killeigh near Tullamore, Gardaí seized more cannabis plants with an estimated value of €160,000.


Two men, aged 26 and 30 years, were arrested and are currently detained at Tullamore Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The two men can be held for up to seven days under the Act.
