Irelands largest quarrying and construction machinery show opens in tullamore

Ireland’s largest Construction and Quarry Machinery Show(CQMS) opens today with over €50million worth of machinery on display at Tinnycross in Tullamore.

CQMS ’15 is showcasing some 100 exhibitors of construction and quarry machinery equipment on site for the two day event, which takes place today, Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 on a custom-built showground at Molloys Quarry in Tullamore.

The show, which is expected to attract 10,000 visitors over the two days, is being officially opened this morning by Director General of the Construction Industry Federation Tom Parlon.

Publisher of Machinery Movers Magazine and show organiser Brian Coogan said, “we are very confident that this show will be a very positive marker for change in the construction industry. The country is clearly in recovery mode and this show will be an important part of moving forward for many construction and quarry companies who haven’t purchased new equipment for several years during the downturn.'

He pointed out that 'there is little or no second-hand equipment on the market in Ireland and so the time is ripe to begin showing and demonstrating once again to a recovering construction industry. We expect a great turnout today and tomorrow and we hope that it will be a positive experience for everyone who attends this event.”

According to CIF DG Tom Parlon, “this event is coming at a very good time for the sector, with the construction industry on the rise once again.  Last year 45% of all the additional jobs created in the economy were construction jobs and the expectation is that the industry will grow even further in the months and years ahead.  As the sector grows and activity increases there will be a need for companies to improve their equipment and machinery and that is why events like this are so important.  I’m delighted to be participating in this year’s Construction and Quarry Machinery Show and I believe it will be of great interest to everyone operating throughout the Irish construction industry.”

Close Brothers Finance are the main sponsors of the event and Adrian Madden, said that finance is now available to those looking towards investing in the future of their companies.

“After weathering the period of recession in our economy the sold out exhibition space and the number of visitors expected reflect the ambition that is re-emerging among Irish firms. The market is moving forward and businesses of all sizes need to ensure that they are in a position to respond, whether it is through the acquisition of new machinery and equipment, or by improving their cash flow,' Mr Madden said.

'Not only will CQMS ’15 showcase the latest equipment, but for businesses with any questions or queries, there will also be a host of industry experts on hand to offer support. Our experienced team will be present throughout the event to help advise business owners on sustainable and bespoke funding solutions for equipment and machinery of any size,” Mr Madden remarked.

CQMS ’15 will feature all the leading brands of construction and quarrying machinery making this an ideal opportunity for dealers, distributors and manufacturers to show their equipment, new technologies and services to an end user audience. Between 8,000 to 10,000 people are expeted to attend.
