100 jobs to be created in tullamore

Up to 100 jobs are set to be created in Tullamore after An Bord Pleanala upheld Offaly County Council's decision to grant planning permission for a new primary care centre in the town.

According to the planning application, the new three storey primary care centre, which will cost around €10m to construct and will be built on a site on the Church Road, will include three GP surgeries, a HSE child and adolescent mental health facility and a pharmacy. The development will  also include 125 car park spaces.

It's believed that 100 jobs will be created during the construction phase and a further 100 when it's operational.

The development was the subject of a number of objections with opponents citing concerns about traffic congestion and the fact that the area is zoned residential.

However, despite the objections An Bord Pleanala decided to give the project the green light subject to conditions.
