Emigrant's should come home says Corcoran Kennedy

Offaly’s young people who left Ireland during the recession have been encouraged to come home by Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy.

The Fine Gael TD made the call following the release of Live Register figures for the month of September, which she says reflect a “recovering jobs market”.

“The Live Register figures released this week show that job creation measures are paying real dividends for Offaly with 539 more people working in Offaly since last month. The Offaly Live Register figure has decreased 21.85% since February 2012, when the government launched its Action Plan for Jobs.

“The government is on track to replace all the jobs lost in the crisis and to bring about a situation where there will be more Irish people coming back home to take up jobs. I look forward to seeing more Offaly young people returning home where they belong.

“While we know that not every family has felt the benefits yet, this week the Government announced a €27 billion six year Capital Investment Plan to help with the ongoing work to secure the recovery, to restore all the jobs lost in the recession by 2018 and to get unemployment down to 6% by 2020.  I will continue to work to ensure this plan is delivering for Offaly.”
