Ten sheep killed by dogs in Birr


Dog owners have been asked to make sure their pets are secured at night following a sheep kill outside Birr this week.


Between Monday night and Tuesday morning of this week, an unknown number of dogs killed ten sheep on a farm at Castletown, Fortal. With lambing season due to begin in the coming weeks, a spokesperson for Birr Gardai urged dog owners to be extra vigilant when it comes to securing their animals at night.


Meanwhile, two water troughs and two 12ft galvanised gates were stolen from a farm at Derrydolney, Kilcormac between Thursday February 4 and Friday February 5. Anyone who many have information regarding the theft are asked to contact Birr Garda Station on 0579169717.
