HSE's Escalation Policy again activated in Tullamore

The HSE has activated its Escalation Policy at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore today.

The policy was activated due to a high level of activity at the hospital. Members of the public are being advised to consider visiting their GP or Midoc service before attending.

According the the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association’s trolley and ward watch figures, 26 people were awaiting admission at the hospital this morning.

The HSE said “the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore is experiencing high levels of attendances and admissions today. As a result, the HSE’s Escalation Policy has now been activated.”

“In order to assist us we are requesting that patients in the first instance, consider using their GP or Midoc Service for medical assessment, where possible,” the HSE stated.

The HSE, which also activated the policy last Friday, said the situation will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
