One arrested as heroin worth €45,000 discovered near Kinnegad

An estimated €45,000 worth of heroin was seized when Gardai stopped a car near Kinnegad on Wednesday.  

At around 7.30pm gardai from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit stopped a car  near Kinnegad, Co Westmeath and found the drugs.

The 35 year-old male driver, who was the sole occupant, was arrested and taken to Mullingar Garda Station. Gardai said heroin (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of up to €45,000 was seized.

The man is being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Mullingar Garda Station.
