Body of missing Athlone woman located

Gardai located the body of missing Athlone woman Kathleen Reilly on Tuesday evening.

The 74-year-old’s remains were discovered in Coosan Lough and taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore for a post mortem. Gardai thanked the public for their assistance and said no further action is required.

Meanwhile, Gardai are trying to establish the identity of a body found at Aughinish, Kinvara, Co Clare on Sunday.

The body of a man aged between 50 and 70 was discovered washed up at Kinvara at 8.50pm. He is described as 5’7” in height, reddish hair, receding hair line and blue eyes.

Gardai have issued a description of his clothing and a number of items found on his person. They are a blue Marks and Spencer Easy Care Pyjama, top and bottom, a grey Boss V-neck jumper regular fit, grey pin stripe trousers and jacket with Irish Action Autism badge and a black belt with brass buckle.

Other items include a oair of black Mark and Spencers trouser braces, a grey Debonham and Freeman zip jacket size small to fit size 38 to 96, a white handkerchief with light blue stripes on edges, brown Clarke shoes size 9 1/2 two mis-matched blue socks and a pink toe spacer in the left shoe.
