Filmmakers at last year's festival.

Filmmakers wanted for 57 Hour Filmmaking Challenge

Take your first step on the road to the Oscars and get involved in the 57 Hour Filmmaking Challenge at the 2016 OFFline Film Festival, which runs from Wednesday October 12 to Sunday October 16 in Birr.

Teams of filmmakers will register on Thursday October 13, then will shoot and edit their short film in and around Birr. They’ll have access to equipment, locations and a database of local actors and extras.

On the evening of Saturday October 15, films are submitted to a panel of judges and screened to the public on Sunday October 16, with the winning short film guaranteed a coveted slot at the Galway Film Fleadh 2017.

It’s not just great fun, it’s a great chance to mix with other filmmakers and film industry professionals from Ireland and overseas.

The first prize is €3,500 post-production studio rental and equipment rental as well as a slot in the 2017 Galway Film Fleadh, while the second prize is a €1,000 equipment rental voucher.
