Public asked for views on new arts strategy

Offaly County Council is inviting the public to participate in developing Offaly’s next five-year County Offaly Arts Plan (2018-2022).

Three public workshops will be held in the major towns, including Tullamore, Edenderry and Birr, along with an online survey for residents to have their view to select and explore the best possible approach to deepening the involvement with the arts.

The workshops are getting under way in Tullamore Library on Tuesday May 23 at 7-9pm; followed by Edenderry Library on Wednesday May 24 between 6.30 – 8.30pm; and Birr Theatre & Arts Centre on Thursday May 25 from 7-9pm.

The aim of the workshops is to explore the impact arts participation can have on the quality of people’s lives in Offaly as well as for those visiting the county and show what can be achieved when people come together to create, practice and engage in arts activity.

'We welcome and value your participation at one of three public workshops taking place in,' read the official statement of Offaly Arts Office.

RSVP to arts@offalycoco.ie or call 05793 46800 by Thursday May 18. In addition, you can participate in an online short questionnaire accessible on https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/offalyartsoffice. Deadline of survey entries May 26 at 5pm.

Offaly County Council Arts Plan (2018-2022) will be framed within the legislative context under the Arts Act 2003, and national arts policy, as set out by the Dept, Of Arts Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
It aligns with the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaion’s ten year strategy Making Great Arts Work (2015-2015).
