Jennifer Byrne has tonight been selected as the 2017 Rose of Tralee.

Jennifer from Clonaderig, Ballinahown, represented Offaly in the Dome.

Shortly after 11.20 tonight, she was announced as the winner.

A delighted Jennifer said she couldn't believe it and was in shock.

Jennifer is a qualified doctor working in University College Hospital Galway and is a former Irish international soccer player.

In an interview with the Offaly Independent recently, she explained she had opted to enter the Offaly Rose competition after her mother had seen an article in the Offaly Independent.
