Video: Rescue of a barn owl in Birr

This video has emerged of a barn owl being released back into the wild near Birr in County Offaly.

Ricky Whelan, a zoologist, conservationist and nature columnist, as well as a project officer with BirdWatch Ireland, shared the video on Twitter, after he helped rescue the owl on Good Friday.

The owl was rescued from a shed, where it was found "starving and weak" and now has successfully been released back into its natural habitat.
