Parking at Edenderry’s Killane Drive must be looked at - Bourke

Cllr Noel Bourke has said that problems experienced with parking of cars in Killane Drive, Edenderry, at school finishing times must be solved.

"Difficulties are being created for residents with a large amount of cars parking there while children are being picked up from school. In many cases access to houses is being blocked," began Cllr Bourke.

"A mistake was made that provision for collecting children from the adjacent schools was not made when planning permission was being sought and granted for the schools.

"It is unfair to Killane Drive residents that such arrangements were not put in place as was done for children being dropped off at school in the morning time’ said Cllr Bourke who added that the problem cannot be allowed to continue indefinitely."

Cllr Bourke said that a study of the overall transportation in Edenderry is about to be carried out and he will ensure that the problem in Killane Drive will be included in it.

"The present situation could cause difficulties for an Ambulance or Fire Brigade accessing a house if urgently required and that is not an acceptable situation," said Cllr Bourke who went on to say that he will be highlighting the problem with the appropriate authorities with a view to have it sorted out.
