Dubai Rose Rebecca Egan from Shannon Harbour

Offaly's Dubai Rose on TV tonight

Dubai Rose, Rebecca Egan from Shannon Harbour, says she will be representing many people including her native home of Offaly, Limerick where she studied and worked, and her new home of Dubai, when she appears live from the Rose Dome in Tralee tonight.

The teacher will be the fifth Rose to appear on stage with Daithi O Sé and said:

"We're all calm and confident, and indeed I'm very proud and I think it's great as an expat to be representing not just one single community, but a much broader community in the sense that I have my Offaly home place, I was college for six years in Limerick and worked there too so, I'm representing the people from Limerick in a way I feel as well, and of course now, my adopted home of Dubai," commented Rebecca.

Fourteen Roses will be interviewed in the second part of the Rose of Tralee selection and hundred of thousands of viewers are expected to tune in to RTE One television to watch the second part of the Rose of Tralee selection.

Dáithí O’Sé will take to the stage at 8pm to interview the remaining 14 and the show will conclude with the crowning of the 2018 Rose of Tralee at 11.15pm.

The 2018 Offaly Rose Katie Kehoe just narrowly missed out on an appearance in the final 32 roses as part of the show's televised final.

Meanwhile, reigning Rose of Tralee, Jennifer Byrne from Offaly, will hand over her title tonight.
