Let Deep Speed take you to the limit
Forget the X-Factor this Saturday night and set your Sky Plus planner to record. If you want to see some real high-energy, charismatic performances, up close and personal and in the flesh, then you need to be in Loughrey's, Tullamore.
Deep Speed, the winners of Longford's Got Talent and the hottest up-and-coming new band in the Midlands, are set to grace the stage and are sure to get the crowd rocking.
They performed in Loughrey's a couple of months ago to a packed house and after a roaring reception are back due to demand.
If you're out for a quiet pint then you're in the wrong place, but that said you're likely to be won over by the sheer talent and energy of this young four-piece.
Fresh from their success, the band is busy touring the country and pleasing crowds as far afield as Longford, Cavan, Westmeath, Galway, Tipperary, Sligo and Dublin and their debut gig in Offaly is sure to be a packed house.
Frontman, Emmet Flood from Edgeworthstown in Co Longford, said the lads are revved up for a wild night and he warns that audience members could find themselves becoming guest performers.
Deep Speed like to include their audience in their gigs - allowing some individuals to sing along with popular rock choruses with the cream of the crop earning themselves a few prizes or a drink on the house.
The band is: frontman Emmet, drummer Sean O'Reilly from Cavan, lead guitar player Paddy Dunne from Ballymahon, Co Longford, and on base Declan Ryan from Tang, Co Westmeath.
The wild on-stage antics and charisma of frontman, Emmet, has become infamous since the band's show-stopping performances took Longford by storm. Olly Murs and his trademark moves aren't a patch on this guy.
Not to be outdone by his band members, Paddy Dunne is a lead guitar player in a league of his own. His guitar solos in popular rock anthems (new and old) will truly take your breath away. Sean plays the drums like his life depends on it and Declan's base sound in the backbone of the ensemble.
Hits from contemporary bands such as The Kings of Leon's Sex on Fire or Snow Patrol's Run are mixed with favourites from The Stereophonics' (Dakota), Green Day (American Idiot) and The Killers (All These Things I've Done). But they don't stop there - try acts as diverse as ACDC, Elvis, Christy Moore and Mundy! All that and throw in some original Deep Speed material makes for a night to remember.
And if you're expecting some tribute band, think again. The guys like to put their own unique stamp on a variety of covers and crowd pleasers. They have a special talent for "rocking up" favourites like Christy Moore's Ride On or Mundy's Galway Girl, like you've never heard before but blow your mind.
And their own material, though relatively unknown outside of their home territory, is fresh, original, catchy and spells a bright future for these Midland lads.
Since winning Longford's Got Talent, Deep Speed recorded a single "How Will You Cry", which was part of the prize package for the competition and written by local singer/songwriter Darren Sweeney.
The single reached number two in the download charts, pipped at the post by i102/104's charity single "Maniac". The proceeds of the Deep Speed single went to the Longford Hospice.
Deep Speed's "Understand" went down a storm on the final night of Longford's Got Talent and has clocked up hundreds of hits on YouTube to date. The band hope to record a music video for this single shortly.
They are also in studio working on more original material and hope to release a single "Trouble For You" in the New Year.
While Deep Speed love touring the circuit of big bars and clubs in the country, it's likely they'll be gracing bigger stages in the not too distant future on the support scene for more established bands.
But when Deep Speed hit the big time and are selling out shows in the O2 in Dublin and in top venues internationally, will you be able to say that you saw them in an intimate setting in Loughreys? The band will take to the stage at 11pm this Saturday night, December 5.
